mission control

Welcome to America - Days 4 and 5

Whiskey 6 is recharging tonight back on home soil in Eureka, Montana after two long, slow days.  (See video below for events on Day 4). He is now 278.2 miles into the journey and anticipating a long hard push tomorrow, possibly as far as Whitefish, Montana 94.8 miles away…

Whiskey 6 and Eleanor hit the wall, near end of Day 4.

Well earned down time in Eureka, end of day 5.

Day 2

Mission control here again. Whisky6 has just reported into Fernie, British Columbia where he is currently seeking large amounts of pizza and a bed. He has covered a total of 158.7 miles and more than 13,000 feet of elevation change since the start. During his 83 mile day today he faced dry-heave-inducing climbs and periods of exhaustion bad enough to make shifting gears a serious challenge. He has synced up with some other riders which has really mentally helped him keeping pushing (often literally). So far there have been bear and elk sitings and last night a herd of horses wandered through their camp. 110 miles to go before US border.

Here are some video updates from the ride yesterday (day 1).

This is a short note from mission control here in San Diego. Whisky6 has been on the trail now for 12 hours and 36 minutes. He has covered 74.9 miles and is still 26 miles from his goal for the day. His current ETA is 02:36:47 AM (MDT) 06/15/19. This ride is no joke! Hoping that he is making good decisions out there and that he has his headlight batteries fully charged.

My body is here sitting comfortably at home, but my heart is out there with him. Please keep sending him your prayers, your good vibes, and your comments here. It really helps. Looking forward to sitrep from him sometime tomorrow.

On the plus side, we know he can operate effectively at night…
